In the first semi-final of IPL T20 season 2, Delhi Daredevils were the favorites to win the match against Deccan Chargers. However, Deccan Chargers captain had something else in mind. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi Daredevils to bat. Most of the Delhi Daredevils batsmen struggled with the bat and the team reached 153/8 in 20 overs guided by a valuable innings from Tillakaratne Dilshan (65 off 51 balls) and Virender Sehwag (39 off 31 balls). Ryan Harris and R P Singh were the pick of the Deccan Chargers bowlers with bowling figures of 3/27 and 2/33 respectively. Adam Gilchrist came to the crease and hit the bowlers for fours and sixes as he took the game away from the Delhi Dardevils. Adam Gilchrist scored the fastest ever 50 in IPL by hitting a 17 balls 50 on way to score a brilliant 85 runs off 35 balls. Deccan Chargers reached 154/4 in merely 17.4 overs. Adam Gilchrist was awarded the Man of the Match for his blazing knock.

Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers were both sitting near the top of the points tally before the 43rd Match of IPL T20 season 2 and the match was seen by many as a fight for an almost guaranteed semi-final berth. Adam Gilchrist won the toss and put Delhi Daredevils to bat. Delhi Daredevils did not look very comfortable against the Deccan Chargers bowlers but Dinesh Karthik (44 off 23 balls), AB de Villiers (44 off 36 balls) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (37 off 18 balls) played blazing knocks to guide Delhi Daredevils to 172/7 in 20 overs. Deccan Chargers started the run chase in style as Adam Gilchrist blazed to 64 runs in 33 balls. Even after he got out Andrew Symonds (41 off 22 balls) attacked the bowling and Deccan Chargers were looking at a comfortable position with just 25 runs needed off 20 balls with 7 wickets in hand. But then wickets fell in quick succession and all of a sudden Deccan Chargers were bowled out for 161 runs in 19.4 overs. Rajat Bhatia and Pradeep Sangwan were the star bowlers for the Delhi Daredevils with bowling figures of 4/15 and 3/18 respectively. Rajat Bhatia was awarded the Man of the Match for taking the crucial 4 wickets which helped Delhi Daredevils turn the match around in their favour.

It looked like an easy game for Delhi Daredevils as they were the most consistent side of IPL T20 season 2 while Kolkata Knight Riders were going bizarre since the start of the tournament. Brendon McCullum won the toss and decided to bat. Morne Van Wyn (74 off 48 balls), Brendon McCullum (35 off 29 balls) and Moises Henriques (30 off 24 balls) helped Kolkata Knight Riders reach 154/3 in 20 overs. Delhi Daredevils reached the target quite comfortably as they made 157/1 in 19 overs. Gautam Gambhir (71 off 57 balls), Tillakaratne Dilshan (42 off 34 balls) and David Warner (36 off 23 balls) were all brilliant with the bat. Gautam Gambhir was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings.

Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers were both going strong in the first few matches of IPL T20 season 2. But Deccan Chargers faced their first defeat as Delhi Daredevils beat them by 6 wickets in the 21st Match of IPL 2 today. Virender Sehwag won the toss and put Deccan Chargers to bat. The Deccan Chargers batsmen did not do well and they managed to score only 148/9 in their 20 overs due to a Dwayne Smith’s innings of 48 runs off 28 balls. Dirk Nannes and Ashish Nehra had the best bowling figures of 2/16 and 2/30 respectively for the Delhi Daredevils. Delhi Daredevils were not too good with the bat either but Tillakaratne Dilshan (52 off 46 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (41 off 30 balls) guided Delhi to a comfortable win in 18.4 overs. Delhi Daredevils has been winning all its games in IPL till now while Bangalore Royal Challengers were losing most of their games. And there was not any difference this time too. Kevin Pietersen won the toss and decided to bat. The Bangalore Royal Challengers again lost frequent wickets and with contribution from Kevin Pietersen (37 off 25 balls), Mark Boucher (36 off 28 balls) and Ross Taylor (31 off 34 balls) they reached 149/7 in 20 overs. Delhi had a steady run chase although there were a few hiccups in between with Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir out cheaply. With an excellent innings from Tillakaratne Dilshan (67 off 47 balls), Delhi Daredevils reached their target of 150 losing only 4 wickets in 19.2 overs. Tillakaratne Dilshan was awarded the Man of the Match for his excellent innings.
