MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, could be sidelined from the IPL for 10 days after picking up an injury during his team’s victory against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Tuesday. Suresh Raina has been named captain in his absence.
Dhoni was hit on the arm by a rising delivery from Shane Bond during Chennai’s innings but continued batting, scoring an unbeaten 66 off 33 balls to lead his team to a match-winning 164. He kept wickets as well during Kolkata’s unsuccessful chase but was seen wearing an ice pack during the post-match presentation ceremony.
Chennai will face Delhi Daredevils in their away match on March 19.

Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils are both regarded as strong contenders of IPL T20 season 2 cup. Delhi Daredevils skipper for this match Gautam Gambhir won the toss and put Chennai Super Kings into bat. Chennai Super Kings had a good start but lost frequent wickets and ended up being all out in 20 overs for a score of 163. Subramaniam Badrinath (45 off 34 balls), Suresh Raina (32 off 21 balls) and Matthew Hayden (30 off 19 balls) made the most significant contributions with the bat for Chennai Super Kings. Dirk Nannes, Ashish Nehra and Rajat Bhatia were brilliant with the ball for the Delhi Daredevils with bowling figures of 3/27, 3/27 and 2/17 respectively. Delhi Daredevils could not keep up with the reqd. RR as they kept on losing frequent wickets and even the two half centuries by IPL debutant David Warner (51 off 40 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (52 off 31 balls) could not save the Delhi Daredevils from defeat. Delhi Daredevils could only score 145/8 in 20 overs. Two Indian domestic players named Shadab Jakati and Sudeep Tyagi who made their first time appearance in IPL had the best bowling figures of 4/24 and 2/18 respectively.
