Rajasthan Royals had to win this match in order to reach the semi finals of IPL T20 season 2 while Kolkata Knight Riders were playing for their pride as they were already out of the semis. Charl Langeveldt was the pick of the bowlers for Kolkata Knight Riders with bowling figures of 3/15 in his 4 overs while playing his first match. Kolkata Knight Riders also kept on losing wickets when they came to bat but a valuable innings by Laxmi Shukla (48 off 46 balls) helped them reach 102/6 in 19.3 overs.
