Match 52 of IPL T20 season 2 was a must win situation for Bangalore Royal Challengers to reach the semis while Delhi Daredevils were comfortably placed in the semi finals of IPL T20 season 2. Virender Sehwag won the toss and decided to bat. Delhi Daredevils batsmen struggled and the team only scored 134/7 in 20 overs. Bangalore Royal Challengers cruised to the target in 19 overs with valuable innings by Jacques Kallis (58 off 56 balls). Jacques Kallis was awarded the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock and for his bowling figures of 1/17 in 4 overs.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat. Matthew Hayden (60 off 38 balls) put Chennai Super Kings to a blazing start and they were looking good for a 160+ score but then the whole Chennai batsmen crumbled suddenly as they were bowled out for 129 runs in 19.4 overs. Anil Kumble, Jacques Kallis and Vinay Kumar took two wickets each for the challengers. Bangalore Royal Challengers also lost wickets at regular intervals when they came to bat Ross Taylor (46 off 50 balls) and Virat Kohli (38 off 35 balls) played useful innings as Bangalore somehow manged to score 132/8 in 19.4 overs. Albie Morkel and Jacob Oram took two wickets each for the Chennai Super Kings. Ross Taylor was awarded the Man of the Match for his useful innings in the run chase.

Royal Challengers were looking a revived side under new captain Anil Kumble as they took on Mumbai Indians in the 28th Match of the IPL T20 season 2. Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and decided to bat. Most of the Mumbai batsmen faltered once again and they could only make 149/4 in 20 overs on a batsman friendly pitch. Sanath Jayasuriya and Dwayne Bravo top scored for the Mumbai Indians with scores of 52 off 43 balls and 50 off 40 balls respectively. IPL debutant Dillon du Preez bowled exceptionally well for the Royal Challengers taking 3 wickets for 32 runs in his 4 overs. Banglore Royals Challengers cruised to the target in 18.1 overs with the help of steady batting performance by Jacques Kallis’ (69 off 59 balls) and Robin Uthappa (66 off 42 balls) and also helped by pathetic bowling by the Mumbai Indians. Jacques Kallis was awarded the Man of the Match due to his steady batting and bowling performances.

Delhi Daredevils has been winning all its games in IPL till now while Bangalore Royal Challengers were losing most of their games. And there was not any difference this time too. Kevin Pietersen won the toss and decided to bat. The Bangalore Royal Challengers again lost frequent wickets and with contribution from Kevin Pietersen (37 off 25 balls), Mark Boucher (36 off 28 balls) and Ross Taylor (31 off 34 balls) they reached 149/7 in 20 overs. Delhi had a steady run chase although there were a few hiccups in between with Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir out cheaply. With an excellent innings from Tillakaratne Dilshan (67 off 47 balls), Delhi Daredevils reached their target of 150 losing only 4 wickets in 19.2 overs. Tillakaratne Dilshan was awarded the Man of the Match for his excellent innings.

Kings XI Punjab were the semi-finalists in IPL T20 season 1 but this year they failed to impress with two consecutive losses in their first two matches. Rain was also not favorable and Preity Zinta’s team had matches affected by rain too. Bangalore Royal Challengers was not very impressive too under new captain Kevin Pietersen with two consecutive losses although they won their first match against Rajasthan Royals. Today’s 11th Match of IPL T20 season 2 was important for both sides. Pietersen won the toss and decided to bat but he was himself unimpressive once again and went off for a duck. However, some good batting by Jacques Kallis (62 off 46 balls), Ross Taylor (35 off 22 balls) and Jesse Ryder (32 off 21 balls) helped the Challengers to reach a total of 168/9 in 20 overs. Yusuf Abdulla and Irfan Pathan had the best bowling statistics for the Kings with 4/31 and 3/35 respectively. The Kings started their batting without taking much risks and Ravi Bopara (84 off 59 balls) steered the Kings XI Punjab to victory with valuable contributions from Yuvraj Singh (30 off 17 balls) and Kumar Sangakkara (26 off 18 balls) with one over to spare. Ravi Bopara was awarded the Man of the Match for his 84 runs off 59 balls.
